Little Paws Book Launch
On Saturday the 22nd April I hosted an afternoon tea at Ground Up café in Carrington to launch all four Little Paws books. So many people came that we packed out the large café with people, the front with dogs and also filled the outside courtyard with a large craft table for the kids.
The four books are early chapter books for kids 6+. They are fun and heart-warming stories about Guide Dog puppies and the families who help raise them. The books also feature delightful illustrations by Gabriel Evans.
I was lucky that my friend and author/illustrator Liz Anelli agreed to launch the books and introduce me. She gave a beautiful speech and also spoke a little about Guide Dogs and their impact. I then said a few words and read from a chapter of Goldie Makes the Grade.
There were lots of furry friends there too. I brought my own dog Pippi, as well as other dogs I know and love. Thanks to Snaggles the Sausage Dog, Ned the gorgeous Labradoodle, Dexter the Labrador, Milo and Chino the Foxies, and Annie the Labrador puppy!
The doggie craft was a hit. The kids made puppy pop art and had lots of fun creating bone shaped book marks and decorating photos of Labradors.
A big thank you to my family for coming to support me, my friends and readers for coming on the day to give the four books a good launch into the world. In particular, a huge thanks to Liz Anelli, Max and Amanda from Macleans Booksellers and Andy from Ground Up Café for your support on the day. I'd also like to thank Guide Dogs Australia and my wonderful Publisher Holly Toohey and Editor Cristina Briones for their hard work.
